What is blackout fabric anyway?

Blackout fabric is a textile designed to block out light effectively.  It typically consists of different layers of materials that prevent light from passing through.

But really… it’s the magical fabric that creates a that dark room when you had a long day of travel.  Nothing compares to that feeling of complete privacy and darkness as you go to sleep.  It gives the hotel guest the ultimate control over their space with light control, noise reduction and temperature control.  

Do blackout fabrics come in a variety of colors and designs?

Gone are the days of boring blackout.  Blackout is now available in almost any color and texture you can imagine. From intricate textures to satin weaves, we can create the perfect blackout for your project.

Why should I choose blackout drapery instead of standard drapery fabrics?

Two Words: Cost Savings.  By using blackout drapery fabrics, you are 1. Buying one fabric instead of two, 2. Making a drapery using one fabric instead of two costs less, 3. Only shipping one fabric instead of two. 

Are blackout drapery fabrics flame-retardant and compliant with hotel safety regulations?

All of the fabrics at Hubbard Contract are made specifically the hospitality environment and meet or exceed FR requirements.

Are blackout fabrics suitable for both traditional and modern hotel interior designs?

With limitless designs, styles, colors and textures, there is a blackout fabric for every projects.

Can blackout drapery fabrics be customized to fit specific window dimensions?

Wanting something special?  No problem.  We know each project is unique and we want yours to be special. We are happy to work on custom weaves in specific colors or custom prints for any project.

Do blackout fabrics have any special installation requirements?

Blackout drapery is meant to hang.  When working with your drapery manufacturer, be sure to coordinate the timing of your project. Blackout that is folded for prolonged periods of time, can create wrinkles and/or cracking of the blackout.
